Devin The Dude
I seemed to have missed the release of this 2006 mixtape from Devin The Dude, but thankfully I just stumbled upon it the other day...and I've got it here for y'all!
This is not one for the kids, for as most of you know, Devin likes to rap about sex, weed, pussy, and his Lacville '79....and this mixtape is heavy on that. Some highlight tracks on this for me so far are "Yo Bitch", "Toast To The Pussy" ft. Twista (you love that title. haha!), and "Beautiful Crazy".
Check out The Dude and enjoy!

Eddie Hazel
Eddie Hazel was born on April 10, 1950, and passed on December 23, 1992. He was a pioneering and influential guitarist in early funk music in the United States, most famous for his lead guitar work with George Clinton and Funkadelic. In 1977, Eddie released his debut solo album on Warner Brothers entitled "Game, Dames & Guitar Thangs". He has been featured on a number of lists of greatest guitarists of all time, and is highly respected among many guitarists of all genres. One of my favourite groups, Ween, recorded a tribute to him called "A Tear for Eddie" on their album Chocolate And Cheese, imitating his unique soloing style; A super dope track! When my band, The Salads, was on tour with Fishbone in 2002, I remember their guitarist at the time, Spacey T, talking a lot about Eddie Hazel's influence on him.
Anyhoo, if you're a guitarist, or just a lover of good funk music, you have to check this album out! Enjoy!
P.S. This download does not include the second last song on the album, "From The Bottom Of My Soul", as it's over 12 minutes long and wouldn't fit in the zip. If you dig this album and would like that song to complete the album, leave me a comment and I'll post it for you.

The Ice Opinion
In 1994, rapper/actor/entrepreneur, Ice-T, released a book called "The Ice Opinion : Who Gives A Fuck?". I have a copy of the audiobook, which is dope because it's read by Ice himself. It's a great listen if you're on a long journey in your car, or on the subway, or whatever....Ice-T is the man.
Of the 11 chapters, here are chapters 5 (Men, Woman & Sex) and 6 (Rap:The Art Of Shit Talkin') for you to have a listen to. I got a kick out of these two chapters the most. Some other topics he touches on in the book are religion, racism, gang warfare, riots & revolution, crime & punishment, among many others. If anyone is interested in the rest of the book, leave me a comment and maybe I'll post the rest piece by piece, as they're big files.
Now, listen up to the original gangsta....Ice Muthafuckin' T!

Kanye West VS The Beach Boys
Remember Danger Mouse's "Grey Album"? It combined Jay-Z's "Black Album" acapellas with The Beatles' "White Album" instrumentals. Well, now we have Lushlife's "West Sounds", combining Kanye West acapellas with The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" instrumentals....And it's really well done!
Check it out...

Steel Pulse
In 1982, English reggae group, Steel Pulse, released their album, "True Democracy". They recorded the album in 25 days in Denmark. This album, in my opinion, contains some of the best songs by Steel Pulse.
If you don't know about Steel Pulse, this is a great introduction...Enjoy!

Niggy Tardust
Following in the recent steps of Radiohead, Saul Williams has joined forces with Trent Reznor and released his latest album as a free or pay-what-you-can release. Unlike the Radiohead album, this one comes with the album cover plus a 33 page pdf full of art and hand-written lyrics and credits. Very dope! I still have to listen to it, so hopefully the album is as cool as the packaging and concept. I'm sure it will be...Check it out for yourself...
