It's The Infectious Grooves!

The Infectious Grooves are a funk metal band led by Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir. It also features former Excel guitarist Adam Siegel, ex-Suicidal Tendencies, now Metallica, bassist Robert Trujillo, and ex-Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins.

Though Muir's sense of humor was often obvious with Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves often brought out a goofier type of humor through their albums' comedy skits by a reptilian lover named Sarsippius.

This is their debut album, released in 1991, "The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move....It's The Infectious Grooves".

Deadly material. One of my classic favourites!

If you didn't know, now you know....ENJOY!

Omar is for pleasure.

Omar is an amazing soulful and funky singer from the UK. He's got 6 albums released to date since 1990. "For Pleasure" came out in 1994, and is probably my favourite of them all, particularly with tracks like "Keep Steppin'", "Little Boy", "Making Sense Of It", "Saturday"...damn, the whole thing is the bomb. :)

Omar made his debut performance in Toronto about a year ago at the Mod Club, and I was there. I met him afterwards to say thanks, and to slip him a spliff, for which he thanked me with a big hug and an autograph on my copy of "Music". He was a super nice guy, and the show was killer!

If you don't know about Omar, check him out!

Sabbath Fuckin' Sabbath!

If you don't have any Black Sabbath in your music collection, (A) What's the matter with you?, and (B) Today is your lucky day! ;)

The other day I stumbled upon a post of mp3s containing all 27 of Black Sabbath's albums! Now, in my opinion, all you reeeeally need to are the first 6 albums, as those are the ones with Ozzy on vocals. (#7 has Ozzy on it too, but is a collection from the first 6) AND if you don't have the "Reunion" album (#25, a live recording of Ozzy's reunion with Sabbath in 1998), you might wanna snag that one too! And if you're slightly curious about all those albums in between with Dio, go feed your curiousity.

Enjoy the ORIGINAL metal band!

The Roots: Best Of/Mixtape

I found this mixtape at the beginning of this year, and I've been listening to it since. It's a great introduction to new fans of the phenomenon that is: THE ROOTS. It's also a remix of the classics the rest of us grew up with.

We're talkin' about mixes with folks like Big Pun, Ghostface, Will.I.Am, Busta, Lauren Hill, Erykah Badu, NaS, Rakim, Kardinal, D'Angelo, Jay-Z, Zion I...and Stevie Wonder! Whaaaaat?! If you don't know, you're CRAZY not to snag this one up. ;)

I love this mixtape. I wish all mixtapes could be like this one. :) It's even hosted by The Roots' lead MC, Black Thought.

Enjoy this fine piece of work, yo...

Mr. Human Rights himself, the original throat behind the legendary Bad Brains...H.R.

H.R. released a few solo albums in the 90's, reggae albums for the most part. My favourite one is "Charge", released in 1990. I was always a big fan of the few reggae tunes that Bad Brains threw in the midst of their chaotic punk classics. And with Bad Brains back in Toronto next month with The Roots and Bedouin (and more!), I figured this post would be very suiting. ;)

Big thanks to Mr. Darrin Pfeiffer for passing this classic album along to me a while ago from his collection...You rule dude!
